How could a liberal President make the country safer?

Conservatives are more militant than liberals most of the time and are more willing to use force than take the pansy way out and "talk it out" with enemies. Most of the terrorists are afraid of Bush and you can tell because there has not been an attack on American soil since 9/11 because of Bush not being afraid to attack any country that is a danger to America and hunt the terrorists down. A liberal president would be trying to negotiate with terrorists right after they hit us and they would still try to talk.

How could a liberal President make the country safer?
A liberal President could make this country safer by simply surrendering to our enemies.

Just take a look at how Terrorists did to us in Carter and Clinton's years.

If terrorists are afraid of Bush, how come many went to Iraq after we invaded and are killing our people ht ere as we speak?





Also, several plots have been uncovered in the US recently. Saying that a liberal President would only negotiate is


nonsense. The people that did the 1993 bombing were caught, convicted and are in jail. The millennium plot in 2000 was foiled, while Clinton was President. Clinton made air strikes and at least tried to get Bin Laden, Bush cold have had him also but let him go. Why?





Do you really think Bush is willing to invade any country? Most of the 9 /11 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia - Bush would never invade that country, they own him.





I can tell by your choice of words you have not really thought about this at all but are just repeating what you heard on Right Wing radio, as are 90% of your answerers here.

People posted that FDR and JFK are gppd examples who did not back down, also remember it was Carter who used diplomacy in the Middle East between Egypt and Israel.

Most have Europe would've fallen to communism had it not been for the Marshall Plan where we gave money to countries so they could build an infrastructure (but couldn't spend it on the military). That is the equivalent of saying "The terrrorists haven't attacked us because I said I'd hit them with my car, and since we haven't been attacked, my plan works. As for every unconstitutional thing this president has done to "protect" us. I think THOSE WHO AGREE WITH IT ARE WEAK. When we accept changes in the core beliefs of constitution just because we are afraid, the terrorists have already won. Standing up to them by saying "we will try you in a court of law" is far more valiant than saying we're scared.
Reply:Agreed. libs don't instigate conflict like cons do. Cons tend to be blood thirsty and macho, where a libs tend to be more reasonable. And since a shadow of the bush administration orchestrated the 9/11 attacks for an excuse to instigate conflict in the middle east, it makes total sense that there has not been a terrorist attack in the U.S. since. I totally agree.

Reply:Not interferring in the Middle East and not continually taking it in the a$$ from Israel. That would help for starters. Stop exploiting other countries resources. Maybe that would help too. US popularity might even rise a bit.
Reply:Wrong. A liberal president would continue the war on terror through covert means (remember the Cold War?) and use the CIA to eliminate terrorists. This is much more effective (and less expensive) than invading foreign countries arbitrarily with massive armies. He or she would also use diplomacy to work things out - something Bush knows nothing about. A liberal being made president would make the world relax and breathe a sigh of relief and we might actually be able to get other countries to be friendly with us for a change. Plus, a liberal president might *gasp* focus on our problems at home. Wouldn't that be something?
Reply:I agree with you on some things but I think President Bush has been lucky on no attacks on the home front because some things he has not been resolute on (remember even Reagan failed with Lebanon by cutting and running something the terrorist still cheer). I think the danger I see is the Democrats being in charge in Congress still with a new Republican president because obviously this democrat leadership is what you call the run and hide liberals who would rather deal with terrorists through the UN, police actions and sanctions.
Reply:A true Liberal could never make this country (or any other country) safer. A true Liberal President would shut down the Pentagon and disband the armed forces, because true Liberals despise the military. A true Liberal would try to talk with the terrorists and find out why they hate us, instead of killing them and moving on. (the reason they hate us is three-fold: 1 - we are different from them; 2 - they have been trained to hate us by their parents and so-called "teachers" since the day they were born, becasue we are different from them; 3 - they are religious fanatics who concentrate on one specific verse in the Qu'ran that says "kill the infidels").





The difference between a Liberal and a Conservative can be illustrated like this: a Liberal thinks the American way of life is the cause of the world's problems; a Conservative thinks the American way of life is the answer to the world's problems. Which one are you?
