How can I prevent deer from eating my tulips and pansies?

I love to garden, but the only flowers that the deer and squirrels leave alone this time of the year is daffodils.

How can I prevent deer from eating my tulips and pansies?
when you get a hair cut or someone you know ask for their hair and scatter it around your plants my mom does this to her pansies and it works like a charm!
Reply:Sorry but this never worked for me.Deer are too used to the smell of us and come and do the damage at night. Report It

Reply:I am never_understood_11 and the reason why people use human hair is because they are NOT used to the smell of humans.

(response to Nahimana's comment-"Sorry but this never worked for me.Deer are too used to the smell of us and come and do the damage at night.")She is quite mistakenly wrong. Report It

Reply:Sorry, never whatever is wrong, I have battled the deer for decades, and yes, soon after putting human hair down, you will find more bite marks. Hair only works for a short time, but she seems to know everything. Report It

Reply:What are those common deer-resistant trees and shrubs?

http://homegarden.expertvillag... Report It

Reply:I know garden stores often sell chemicals you can spray that are supposed to repel pests.
Reply:put some ammonia on old rags and lay them about
Reply:1. Repel deer by hanging fresh sheets of Bounce Classic. The fragrance(oleander) keeps deer away. Misting the Bounce Classic sheets every so often with water revives the scent.

2.To repel deer, push a nail through a bar of Dial soap, tie a loop of Oral-B Mint Waxed Floss through the hole, and hang.Deer mistake the smell of deodorant soap for humans and flee.
Reply:I used to live on an Island with a deer problem, we tried everything, chicken poop works for awhile but they get used to it, ammonia on rags doesn't seem to work, if you put out the bits of the ends of bars of soap that have been used on humans that works until the soap dissolves, The best technique is to have yourself, or preferably the males of the family pee in and around the beds on a regular basis, they seem to be afraid of humans for some reason.
Reply:Clean out everyone's hairbrush and put all the hair in part of an old panyhose or piece of mesh. This is supposed to deter deer (who have extrememly sensitive noses) and other little critters as well. You might be having more a problem with little bunnies than deer...they love my flowers.
Reply:well the whole world and HUMANKIND sure is trying to help!with your little problem!!! building roads and taking away land cars that hit them !!! men that shoot them to make them feel like more of a man and yes we still hunt them not just for fun and hang there sweet heads on the walls we do kill them to eat even though we dont have to anymore to survive. so quit bbbbb...about some puney flowers and have a little compassion!! poor babys dont have nowhere to live and grow as is and with that food is scarce. im sure your precious flowers were the last meal one of those was able to have . an hour later probably shot or hit by a car geez!!!!!
Reply:put bear traps around the flowers
Reply:make a sign saying no deer allowed
Reply:Bouncing betties.
Reply:Spread hair around the perimeter of the garden (you need lots - like from a barber shop). Not sure why this works but for some reason the deer are afraid to cross this line (maybe the smell???). I did it once (when they ate my zucchines in the garden) and it worked but too difficult to find a lot of hair. I would like to see what others say too....
Reply:Shoot them,and have deer stakes.
Reply:goto gemples.com
Reply:CHK CHK BANG CHK CHK BANG !!

LOL
Reply:There is actually a "Deer-Be-Gone" type of product out there. My mom used to buy it for her gardens at the Home Depot, I'm sure anyone in their garden store can point it out to you.
Reply:go to your local hair dresser and get human hair and lay in arund your plants
