I am planting pansies, How much soil is 1/8 in.?

Yes I am horrible at math, but I need to know how much soil is 1/8 in.?

I have pansy seeds which I placed in 200mm plant pots and the pots are filled up to one inch from the top with soil.

How do I know what 1/8 in. of soil is?

About as thick as a penny
Reply:you don't have to be that exact

just plant them very shallow in the soil

drop the seeds on top of the soil surface

then drop a fine layer of soil on top of the seeds

then lightly press the soil down

LIGHTLY is the key word here
Reply:It's so close to 3mm it isn't funny. one inch is 25mm and 200mm is 4inches, as i said very close to it.
Reply:About as thick as two matchsticks, or a mouse mat, or a coaster. Not very thick at all, just a covering really.
Reply:You seem to know what an inch is.

So take a wild guess and divide it by eight.
