What do you think about the 2007 jeep unlimited rubicon 4 door?

I thought I might like it but I don't know looks more like Jeep is trying to get the pansy's to buy. I guess good for marketing to drum up business. But it's not a Real Jeep in my book.

What do you think about the 2007 jeep unlimited rubicon 4 door?
I think it's ugly and severely underpowered. Jeep/Chrysler needs to put some b*lls back under the hood.

The plastic fenders/grill are hidious.

On the two door model, they way they anchored the seat belt to the front seat makes it damn near impossible to get in the back seat. What the hell were they thinking?

I don't think the new remodeled Jeep is going to go over...maybe with the young kids who don't know any better or the soccer moms who want to look cool while hauling the kids around.
Reply:The only thing that really sucks is the new engine. It might now look as good but the new plastic fenders and crappy bumpers are make for real enthusiasts who are gonna replace or break them.

The rest of the jeep lineup is completely pansyfied. Ive been a little mad at them for this but I guess it gives them more money to develop good offroad models too.

As far as the 4 door unlimited, They might be aiming it towards families and such.

If you think about it Jeep is still doing better then everybody else. who else offers front and rear lockers on heavy duty axles and a 4:1 transfer case.
Reply:The longer wheelbase makes it a safer and more stable vehicle on all types of terrain. And it should be a better wheeler. The short wheelbase rigs can navigate where nothing else can, but when it comes to traction that SWB can really be a liability. I've wheeled just about every make of truck, and the shorties spin out the quickest.

A LWB jeep sounds like a great truck to me. It still comes with solid axles front and rear and options like a D44 rear end with locker, and a 6 speed manual. I haven't driven one yet, but I doubt that V6 is a slouch in the power department. At least they should get better mileage now.

As far as looks, who cares? Once you throw some big meats on it and some flairs it'll look like a jeep should, even with 4 doors.
Reply:The 3.8 v6 will give more power and torque than the inline 6. Unfortunatly with emissions,Chrysler realized that the more you tweeked the inline 6,the more you sacraficed torque and horsepower.Thats why they went to the 3.8
Reply:I hated them at first. Then, I remembered I hated the TJ when it came out. I'm giving it time. They are growing on me a little. I'll have to drive one and see how I feel.
Reply:i own a repair shop, and i seen it,,and it just don't look like a real jeep to me..I'm use to seeing them all jacked up or looking tough, and i cant picture this one looking like that ,i think there trying to appeal to the other generation of older people,,but I'm not sure this will do it,,my opinion of a jeep was always a tough looking vehicle that would go anywhere and do anything,,this one don't seem like it would do that,i may be wrong,,but i don't think this is going to sell like they want it too, good luck, merry x-mas.
Reply:I just drove my friends new 4 door Sarah last week. I did like it more after he gave me the full low down on his new toy, but that engine has to go! I got on it and it felt and sounded week! If anyone is in the market for a new Jeep, I would buy a new 2006. Nothing can replace the old 4.0 except a new 4.0. Chrysler Just is to cheap to retool one of the best American motors ever!

There is a rumor of the Hemi and maybe the CRD in the future but at 30K I'll buy another old Jeep and build it the way I want it.
Reply:I'm reserving my opinion for a year or two. I see good and bad. I like the longer wheelbase but stock it won't be hang with the shorter ones for that reason. I'm sure someone like "Teraflex" or "Curry Enterprises" will make a sweet lift for it. Might turn out to be a nice rig especially if you can get it with a "Rubicon package" The aftermarket boys will be all over this thing pretty quick. My thinking is that Jeep is trying to build something that will give Hummer a run for their money. In my opinion that won't be hard to do because hummers pretty much suck off road.
Reply:go rent one for a few days before you buy one,i personally like them
Reply:It's over priced and has a V-6, not inline, so it's gonna be crap. No more 300K mile Jeep engines anymore. Plus I think the fender flares on the front are ugly as hell. The hardtop 4 door is nice though. But I still wouldn't buy one. For the money buy a stock one and do it up!
