Frost is coming, what plants do I have to cover?

I have pansies in hanging baskets that I think will be okay b/c they're heartier flowers, but I planted petunias the other day and I have mums coming up too. What if anything do I have to cover beings as a frost is coming tonight?

You are right the pansies should be fine but if you want to be on the safe side take them down and put in the garage. I would cover the petunias you can use a variety of things - a sheet, towel, jars...I covered all of my smaller plants with old Tupperware that I saved. The mums should also be fine pretty hardy plant, but to be on the safe side I would cover them especially if they are just coming up better to be safe than sorry....I covered or brought in everything today we're also getting frost tonight. Good luck.
Reply:I covered everything tonight. I heard on the news earlier that if you go out at about 6 am and water your plants, they will emit enough heat to keep the frost from bothering them. I would do that but I'm really not a 6am kinda gal....might work for you. Good luck :)
Reply:The pansies and mums are both pretty hardy and should be okay. Cover the petunias.
Reply:the petunias need covering up. mums and pansies are very frost tollerant and thrive in it
