How will I know if my frozen plants will come back to life??

I sure heave some dead and cold flowers out there. I just planted them last week - hostas and pansies etc. I covered several now with plastic bags but I don't know if I'm too late.

How will I know if my frozen plants will come back to life??
noonecanne is right if it is dead it's dead.

If it didn't get the routs it may be back next year.
Reply:Frozen plants will not come back to life. Pansies like the cold weather and they should be fine. After a frost a plant will either remain mostly unchanged (alive) or a soggy, discolored and ugly mess (dead).
Reply:If the flowers are tryly dead, they will not come back. I am speaking of the pansies. Pansies are an annual and if the entire plant is dead, it is not going to come back to life. Get new pansies. As for hostas, they are strong little suckers. They might just make it. Hostas can handle a lot of abuse so look for life when the weather gets warmer. I wish you luck and hope some of your plants make it. Do not leave the plants covered with plastic when the sun is out and shining. This will help kill the plants. Remove the plastic during the day and put back on at night as long as temperatures are at freezing in the evening.
