What kind of flowers can I plant now that will stay bloomed throughout the summer?

I bought some pansies several months ago and they died in a month...what can I plant now, in the south heat, that will last all summer and be colorful?

I have zenias, marigolds, and sunflowers. I live in zone 9 (in south Louisiana). Last year they were BEAUTIFUL all the way into the fall (and we planted them in April).
Reply:What zone do you live in? South could mean Southern England or Southern Australia. Also, it depends on the humidity level: some flowers cannot take the humidity of Florida, and some cannot take the dryness of El Paso.

For Florida, lantana is an excellent choice -flowers every single day for the entire warm season(s).
Reply:elephant ears, colladiums any thing that is in bulb form just keep them moist and they should live all summer long. remember to water them either early in the morning or late evening
Reply:Vinca's. Petunia's. Marigold's.
Reply:Plastic.
Reply:I suggest mums, or daliahs. They come in so many colors, and easy to grow. Just bring in the bulbs of the daliahs in the late fall for next year's colors!
