What is the best motorcycle for me and my budget?????

I am a 20 year old girl looking at getting an older model motorcycle under $5000...I dont want it to be super-powerful but I dont want it to be a pansy bike (if that exists) OH! and i dont want one of those sport bikes either.

What is the best motorcycle for me and my budget?????
You should be able to find a relatively new Honda Shadow VLX for well under $5000. It's an excellent bike for women starting out. My 19 yo daughter rides one, it was also my wifes first bike. My daughter picked up a 2005 VLX w/saddlebags with under 5K miles for about $2300.
Reply:A bit more info would be helpful - are you a new rider, or do you have a few years of experience on street bikes? If you're new, then a small bike is a good way to start, and for $5000 you can buy any of the recommended ones and have lots left over. Search through this forum for best first bikes (mostly 250s).

If you are an experienced rider, the question then is - what kind of bikes do you like? If not a sportbike, do you like cruisers, dual-sports or standards?
Reply:Either a Honda 750 ACE or Yamaha 650 VStar.

I have a Honda and I will teach my 14 yo to ride it next year.

Either bike will run 70, but they have low seats and are easy to ride.

You should find both on craigslist near you for

$3500 or so.
Reply:Try looking at a Kymco Venox you can get a new one ou the door and have change with that and they are excellent beginners bike and long term bike also. It is a Vtwin water cooled twin.
Reply:Hard to tell you cause if you haven't ridden bikes, then you should start off with like a honda rebel 250 which is cheap when new. Later, like a used 750 Honda.
Reply:You didn't mention your height.

No such thing as a pansy bike. Get a Kawasaki Ninja 500.
