Pansies pretty much grow anywhere...but they do like sun. I have mine all around the outside of my house...some get more sun than others...but they all thrive.
If you get the smaller violas...beware...they will multiple over the years. I now have them everywhere...and I only planted them 2 years ago.

Just make sure the dirt doesn't get dry and they get a lot of sun. They are pretty simple to care for and very pretty!
